The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) recently issued notices to two builders for carrying out construction beyond sanctioned limits and conducting commercial activity without approval. One builder had extended construction and violated building plans sanctioned in April 2024, while another added a basement and four floors against the approved structure. GLADA officials warned that any deviation could result in plan cancellation, sealing, or demolition, with legal responsibility resting entirely on the builders or property owners. This move is part of a sustained effort to curb unplanned urban development.
The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) intensified its enforcement efforts against unauthorized construction this week, issuing notices to two property owners for significant deviations from approved building plans. One notice addressed a property where commercial activity was being conducted without permission, and construction had been extended beyond limits approved in April 2024. Another notice was served to a builder who had constructed a basement plus four floors, exceeding the originally sanctioned structure.
GLADA's chief administrator, Sandeep Kumar, reminded residents and developers that all construction must strictly follow approved plans. He stressed that failure to comply could result in cancellation of the sanctioned plan and enforcement actions including sealing or demolition of the property. The authority made it clear that builders and owners bear full responsibility for legal consequences arising from violations.
The additional chief administrator, Vikas Hira, reaffirmed that along with ongoing demolition campaigns, GLADA will take strict legal action against any individuals or entities involved in unauthorized developments across Ludhiana. The authority has been actively monitoring construction sites and reviewing building plans to ensure compliance with regulations, as part of a broader effort to prevent unplanned urban growth and maintain orderly infrastructure development.
Officials highlighted that unauthorized constructions not only breach regulatory guidelines but also compromise civic planning and infrastructure. Builders and property owners have been urged to seek approvals before initiating new projects or making modifications to existing structures. GLADA's ongoing scrutiny sends a clear message that adherence to sanctioned plans is essential for all developments in the district.
