Synopsis

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has approved a budget of INR 5,148 crore for FY 2026-27, focusing on affordable housing, land acquisition, and infrastructure upgrades. A major allocation of INR 200 crore will be used to build 848 flats in Sharda Nagar Extension. The plan also includes INR 1,600 crore for land acquisition in key growth corridors and funds for existing housing schemes, mobility projects, and civic infrastructure. The budget reflects a continued push to increase housing supply while preparing land and infrastructure for future urban expansion.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has approved a budget of INR 5,148 crore for the financial year 2026-27, with a clear focus on expanding housing supply, strengthening infrastructure, and preparing land for future development. The decision was taken during the authority's 187th board meeting chaired by the divisional commissioner.

A key highlight of the budget is the allocation of INR 200 crore for the construction of 848 affordable housing units in Sharda Nagar Extension. The project will consist of four towers of up to 12 floors, offering one- and two-bedroom flats. Basic facilities such as water supply, electricity, lifts, parking, parks, and play areas will be included, in line with the state government's push to promote affordable housing in urban areas.

To support long-term expansion, LDA has earmarked INR 1,600 crore for land acquisition across major upcoming zones such as IT City, Wellness City, Naimish Nagar, and Varun Vihar. These locations have been identified as key growth corridors, and the land bank is expected to support future residential schemes and planned urban development.

The budget also allocates INR 1,298 crore for the development and maintenance of existing housing schemes. This includes ongoing projects, infrastructure upgrades within residential layouts, and basic services required to improve livability for residents. In addition, INR 200 crore has been set aside specifically for city-level infrastructure improvements.

A significant portion of INR 400 crore has been earmarked for the Green Corridor project, which aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity across the city. This project is expected to play an important role in managing increasing traffic and supporting urban mobility as Lucknow continues to expand.

Further allocations include funding for parks, city maintenance, and works under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2.0, indicating alignment with central housing initiatives. The authority has also made provisions to strengthen enforcement against illegal constructions, which remains a concern in rapidly growing urban areas.

Other decisions taken during the meeting include approval of layout changes in select schemes, development of a community centre in Gomti Nagar Extension, and maintaining flat prices in certain residential projects for a year to provide stability to buyers and support demand.

Overall, the budget reflects a structured approach where housing development, land availability, and infrastructure are being planned together to support the city's steady population growth and urbanisation.
