HCLFoundation has announced the recipients of the 11th edition of the HCLTech Grant, awarding a total of INR 24 crore to 12 non-governmental organisations working across water, biodiversity, healthcare, and education sectors, according to a statement released in the past week. The initiative, led by the corporate social responsibility arm of HCLTech, aims to support scalable and community-driven development projects across India.

Under the current edition, four organisations have been selected for top grants of INR 5 crore each, while eight additional organisations will receive INR 50 lakh each across the four thematic categories. The programme has also introduced water as a standalone category for the first time, reflecting an expanded scope and increased funding allocation compared to earlier editions.

Among the primary awardees, Gramin Vikas Vigyan Samiti from Rajasthan has been recognised in the water category for its project focused on enhancing water harvesting across 10 villages in Barmer district, located in the Thar desert region. In the biodiversity category, Live Foundation from Jharkhand has been selected for its initiative on community-led forest conservation covering 50 villages in West Singhbhum district.

In the healthcare segment, Goodwill Foundation from Mizoram has been awarded for its work on expanding access to rural healthcare services across 40 villages in Mamit district. Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti from Rajasthan has been recognised in the education category for its programme aimed at promoting gender equality through holistic education in 30 villages in Ajmer district.

The foundation stated that a total of 7,274 NGO registrations were received from across the country for this edition, indicating significant participation from the development sector. The selection process evaluated projects based on their scalability, impact potential, and community engagement.

HCLFoundation Director Nidhi Pundhir indicated that the grant programme has played a sustained role in supporting development initiatives over the past decade, acting as a catalyst for change across multiple sectors.

Since its inception, the HCLTech Grant programme has reached approximately 2.2 million people across more than 60,000 villages. The initiatives supported under the programme have contributed to environmental and social outcomes, including the plantation of 1,77,000 saplings, rejuvenation of 1,28,100 hectares of land, and reduction of 67,095 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

The continued expansion of the grant programme, including the addition of new thematic areas, reflects an evolving focus on addressing resource management, environmental sustainability, and social development challenges at scale through targeted funding and partnerships with grassroots organisations.
