Wipro Ltd has launched a new technology hub at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) in Gandhinagar to deliver AI-powered solutions for global banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) clients, the company announced in the past week. The facility has been designed to support advanced technology services and will initially accommodate 150 employees, with the capacity to expand to 500 seats depending on client demand.
The centre will focus on delivering solutions across key segments including digital banking, capital markets, regulatory technology, risk and compliance, and core platform modernisation. The hub is expected to cater to international clients, leveraging GIFT City's positioning as a financial and technology services destination.
Wipro stated that the facility will operate in conjunction with its Wipro Intelligence platform, which comprises a suite of AI-powered tools and solutions. The integration is intended to enable the company to co-develop solutions with clients, incorporate responsible AI practices into financial workflows, and scale technology platforms tailored to sector-specific requirements.
The establishment of the hub reflects the company's strategy to expand its capabilities in AI-driven transformation services within the BFSI segment. By locating the facility at GIFT City, Wipro aims to tap into a growing ecosystem of financial institutions, technology providers, and skilled professionals operating within the special economic zone.
Sanjeev Jain, Chief Operating Officer at Wipro, indicated that the company views its presence in GIFT City as a strategic investment aimed at expanding the impact of its AI-led solutions in the global BFSI market. He stated that the company is combining consulting-led transformation capabilities with domain expertise and an innovation-driven approach to strengthen client engagement and create long-term value.
The scalable design of the facility suggests a phased expansion approach aligned with business requirements. The ability to increase seating capacity from 150 to 500 positions allows the company to respond to fluctuations in demand while maintaining operational flexibility.
GIFT City has been positioning itself as a hub for financial and technology services, attracting both domestic and international firms. The addition of Wipro's AI-focused centre adds to the cluster of technology-driven operations being developed within the zone, particularly those catering to global financial markets.
The move also aligns with broader trends in the BFSI sector, where institutions are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence and digital technologies to improve operational efficiency, manage regulatory requirements, and enhance customer experience. Wipro's new hub is expected to support these evolving requirements through targeted technology deployment and collaborative development models.
