Synopsis

Development of educational infrastructure in Amaravati has moved forward with the completion of a lease agreement between Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and Touch Stone Educational Foundation for setting up Basil Woods International School. The school will be built on around four acres with an investment of about INR 40 crore and will cater to students from kindergarten to Class 12. Planned with international standards, the campus will include modern classrooms, laboratories, sports infrastructure and other facilities. The institution is expected to accommodate nearly 2,000 students and contribute to employment generation while strengthening Amaravati's position as an emerging education hub.

Educational infrastructure in the capital city of Amaravati has taken another step forward after the completion of a formal agreement for establishing a new international school campus. The lease agreement between Touch Stone Educational Foundation and the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) was completed recently, enabling the setting up of Basil Woods International School in the capital region.

Officials from the estates department of APCRDA handed over the relevant agreement documents to trustee Kidambi Venugopal, also known as Vamsidhara Dasa, representing the educational foundation. The registration process for the agreement was completed at the Mandam Sub-Registrar's office in the presence of Joint Registrar CH Rambabu.

The proposed school will be developed on nearly four acres of land in Amaravati. Representatives of the institution indicated that the project would involve an investment of about INR 40 crore. According to them, the campus is planned as a K-12 institution designed to meet international education standards while integrating modern teaching methods with Indian values and life skills.

The campus is expected to include several academic and recreational facilities such as digital classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, sports infrastructure, an indoor stadium, a swimming pool and a multipurpose hall. Other necessary infrastructure required for a full-scale school campus will also be developed as part of the project.

Institution representatives further indicated that the school is being planned to serve around 2,000 students once fully operational. The aim is to create a comprehensive learning environment that combines academic programmes with co-curricular activities and skill-based education.

Authorities believe the project will also contribute to job creation in the region. The establishment of new educational institutions is part of a wider effort to position Amaravati as an emerging centre for education, research and institutional development. Over the past few years, the capital region has seen several proposals for schools, universities and training centres as part of the city's long-term planning.

Land allocations for educational institutions in Amaravati have been undertaken by APCRDA as part of the broader capital city development plan. Multiple institutions have been allotted land parcels in the region to attract national and international educational organisations and strengthen social infrastructure alongside residential and commercial development.

With the latest agreement now completed, the Basil Woods International School project is expected to move towards planning and construction stages in the coming period.
