The airport is nearing completion, with inauguration expected soon.

The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed an outlay of INR 2,111 crore for the civil aviation sector in its 2026-27 Budget, placing strong emphasis on the development of the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

According to an official statement issued after the Budget presentation, INR 750 crore has been allocated specifically for the airport's development. The first phase of the project is being executed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. In a significant expansion of scope, the state government has decided to increase the number of planned runways from the originally proposed two to five, indicating a long-term vision for capacity augmentation and positioning the airport as a major aviation hub.

Beyond passenger operations, the government is working to transform Jewar into an aviation innovation and research centre, as well as a maintenance and operations hub. This integrated approach aims to build a broader ecosystem around the airport, supporting ancillary industries and employment generation.

In addition to the airport allocation, INR 1,100 crore has been proposed for the construction, expansion and strengthening of airstrips across Uttar Pradesh, including expenditure towards land acquisition. The move aligns with the state's ongoing efforts to improve air connectivity under the Centre's Regional Connectivity Scheme, supported by the Civil Aviation Promotion Policy, 2017.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently stated at a press conference that the Noida International Airport is nearing completion and that time has been sought from the Prime Minister for its inauguration later this month.

The enhanced budgetary commitment underscores the state's strategy to leverage aviation infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth, regional integration and urban development, particularly in western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region.
