Ashoka Buildcon Limited, a Mumbai-based infrastructure developer, has announced that it has received a letter of acceptance from Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited for a major bridge construction contract in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project is valued at INR 474.38 crore, inclusive of goods and services tax, and was secured by a joint venture between Ashoka Buildcon and Aakshya Infra Project Private Limited, in which Ashoka Buildcon holds a 51 % stake as the lead partner.
Under the terms of the contract, the joint venture will design and construct a high-level reinforced cement concrete (RCC) bridge with a total length of 2,280 metres over the River Gandak. The project also covers the construction of other major bridges on the approach road linking Fatehabad in the Paroo block and Chanchaliya in the Saraiya block within Muzaffarpur district. The works are to be executed under the EPC model, with a completion timeline of 30 months from the appointed date.
This latest award adds significantly to Ashoka Buildcon's infrastructure portfolio and helps bolster the company's existing order book. According to the regulatory filing, the company has also won additional projects worth over INR 3,600 crore in recent weeks, contributing to an expanded order pipeline. The enhanced backlog provides the company with medium-term revenue visibility and supports its ongoing strategy of bidding for large civil construction contracts across India.
Ashoka Buildcon's joint venture share of the project value amounts to around INR 241.93 crore, which will be accounted for in the company's financials as work progresses. The joint venture partners will be responsible for all aspects of the project, from detailed engineering and procurement of materials to on-site construction and structural commissioning of the bridge and ancillary works.
The contract award demonstrates sustained investment in Bihar's transport infrastructure, with improved river crossings expected to strengthen connectivity within the state. The River Gandak bridge is a key link in the region, and its construction under the EPC model aligns with broader national efforts to enhance road networks and civil engineering capabilities.
Overall, the project represents a noteworthy win for Ashoka Buildcon in a competitive infrastructure market, underlining the company's execution expertise in large-scale bridge projects and its commitment to expanding its presence across key regional corridors.
