Serentica Renewables has secured a 600 MW project under India's FDRE VII assured peak tender, marking the largest single-location BESS installation in the company's history. The project will deliver 2,400 MWh of daily peak power through a combined solar and battery system, ensuring energy supply during non-solar hours to meet evening peak demand. With strict monthly and annual demand fulfilment ratios, the initiative strengthens grid reliability and supports India's renewable energy transition. Established in 2022, Serentica focuses on providing dispatchable clean energy to decarbonise critical sectors.
Serentica Renewables recently announced that it has secured a 600 MW project under the Solar Energy Corporation of India's FDRE VII assured peak tender, representing the highest allocation given to any bidder in the auction. The company stated that this will be its largest single-location battery energy storage system (BESS) installation to date.
FDRE VII, with a total tendered capacity of 4,800 MWh, is one of India's most advanced and technically complex renewable energy procurement programs. Serentica is expected to deliver 2,400 MWh of daily peak power through a combined solar and BESS solution installed behind the meter.
The assured peak structure of this tender differs from standard renewable energy tenders by requiring power supply exclusively during non-solar hours. This directly addresses the country's rising evening peak demand and strengthens grid reliability.
For this project, Serentica will deploy a co-located solar and battery system to provide a fixed four-hour daily peak supply. The project must maintain a demand fulfilment ratio of 70 per cent on a monthly basis and 85 per cent annually, ensuring consistent and reliable clean energy during critical peak periods.
Akshay Hiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, highlighted that India's energy transition is increasingly focusing on reliability and availability. He noted that the FDRE VII assured peak tender represents a significant step in addressing evening peak demand sustainably while supporting the grid.
The project reinforces Serentica's position as a decarbonisation enabler, contributing to India's transition toward a flexible, storage-backed renewable energy system. It advances the country's goal of providing round-the-clock clean power and strengthens national energy security.
Founded in 2022, Serentica Renewables is a leading independent power producer focused on decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors by delivering firm, dispatchable renewable energy solutions.
