Synopsis

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has approved the auction of six prime land parcels with a total base value of INR 528.38 crore across Motera, Chandkheda, Nava Vadaj, Bodakdev and Thaltej. The plots include both commercial and residential properties, with base prices aligned to prevailing market rates. The decision follows earlier land monetisation efforts by the civic body and is aimed at generating funds for municipal infrastructure and development works through a transparent auction process.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's standing committee has approved the auction of six prime land parcels across key city locations, with a combined base value of INR 528.38 crore. The decision is part of the civic body's ongoing effort to raise funds through land monetisation to support municipal works and infrastructure spending.

The approved parcels include a 3,365 sq m commercial plot in Motera with a base price of INR 2.81 lakh per sq m and a 3,546 sq m residential plot in Chandkheda priced at INR 1.63 lakh per sq m. Another commercial plot measuring 3,229 sq m in Nava Vadaj will be auctioned at a reserve rate of INR 2.67 lakh per sq m.

The standing committee has also cleared the sale of a 3,797 sq m commercial plot in Thaltej at a base price of INR 2.76 lakh per sq m. A larger 6,458 sq m commercial parcel in Bodakdev has been valued at INR 2.66 lakh per sq m, reflecting the area's established commercial demand. In addition, a smaller 429 sq m residential plot in Thaltej will be auctioned with a base price of INR 2.9 lakh per sq m.

Officials indicated that the base prices were set after assessing prevailing market rates in these micro-markets. The auctions will be conducted through a transparent bidding process, as followed in previous land sales by the civic body.

The approval comes after the municipal corporation raised substantial revenue from land auctions in the recent past, including a previous round where multiple parcels were sold, though some plots remained unsold due to pricing and demand conditions. Proceeds from such auctions are typically used to fund civic infrastructure, road development, and public utility projects across Ahmedabad.
