Surat Airport is preparing to expand its domestic connectivity with three new flight services under the upcoming summer schedule. The airport is set to receive a daily flight to Noida's Jewar airport, a five-day-a-week service to Navi Mumbai, and an early morning flight to Mumbai that is currently under final review. The return of the Mumbai route after a four-year gap is expected to improve travel convenience. Aviation officials believe these additions will strengthen Surat's role as a regional air hub.
Surat Airport is set to enhance its domestic air connectivity with the addition of three new flights under the forthcoming summer schedule, which is scheduled to begin towards the end of March. The move is aimed at improving travel options for passengers from South Gujarat and addressing long-standing demand for better links to major commercial centres.
One of the key additions is a daily flight between Surat and Noida's Jewar airport, which will be operated by IndiGo. The aircraft is expected to arrive in Surat late at night and depart shortly thereafter, providing a consistent daily connection between the two cities. This service is expected to support business travel and improve access to the National Capital Region through the upcoming Jewar airport.
In addition, a new Surat Navi Mumbai flight is likely to be introduced by Star Air. The proposed service will operate five days a week, with arrival in Surat during the late morning hours and departure in the early afternoon. Navi Mumbai Airport is being positioned as an alternative aviation hub for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and direct connectivity from Surat is expected to benefit both business and leisure travellers.
A third service under consideration is an early morning flight connecting Surat with Mumbai International Airport. While the exact timings are still being finalised, this route marks the return of direct air connectivity between the two cities after a gap of nearly four years. Earlier, the Surat-Mumbai route had recorded strong passenger demand, with more than 84,000 travellers using the service during 2018-19 before operations were discontinued.
Industry observers point out that direct flights to new airports such as Noida and Navi Mumbai could offer Surat passengers smoother onward connectivity, including future international travel options. The addition of these services is also expected to contribute to a gradual increase in passenger traffic at Surat Airport, which has seen steady growth in recent years.
