Synopsis

JetSetGo has entered into a memorandum of understanding with UK-based Vertical Aerospace to plan the induction of 50 Valo electric aircraft in India as part of a broader advanced air mobility strategy. The partnership focuses on route planning, operational studies, regulatory engagement and commercial viability for electric and hybrid-electric aircraft. JetSetGo will conduct demand and feasibility assessments for metro and short-haul regional routes, while Vertical Aerospace continues certification work on the Valo aircraft, which is targeted for approval in 2028.

Indian private aviation company JetSetGo has signed a memorandum of understanding with UK-headquartered Vertical Aerospace to work towards the planned acquisition of 50 Valo electric aircraft. The agreement outlines a collaborative approach to developing advanced air mobility services in India, covering areas such as route network design, operating frameworks, regulatory coordination and commercial planning.

As part of the arrangement, JetSetGo will lead market assessments to identify viable use cases across metropolitan and short-distance regional corridors. These studies include demand analysis, operational feasibility and infrastructure readiness, with a focus on routes where ground travel is time-consuming and congested. The company has already begun evaluating how electric and hybrid-electric aircraft could fit into India's existing aviation ecosystem.

The Valo aircraft developed by Vertical Aerospace is designed to operate with zero emissions and is expected to have a range of up to about 160 km, with cruising speeds of close to 240 km per hour. In addition to the fully electric version, Vertical Aerospace is also working on a hybrid-electric variant that could support longer routes, which JetSetGo plans to assess for future deployment.

Vertical Aerospace is progressing towards type certification of the Valo aircraft under UK and European aviation regulators, with certification targeted for 2028. Following this, validations in other markets, including India, would be pursued in line with local regulatory requirements. JetSetGo has indicated that commercial deployment in India would depend on certification timelines, regulatory approvals and the development of supporting infrastructure such as vertiports.

This partnership adds to JetSetGo's earlier efforts to position itself in the emerging advanced air mobility segment. The company has previously announced large aircraft commitments with global manufacturers to explore cleaner and more efficient aviation technologies, signalling a long-term strategy to diversify beyond traditional charter operations.
