Synopsis

Night-time traffic on the Noida-Delhi Direct Flyway will remain affected as resurfacing work continues on the Noida-to-Delhi carriageway. Vehicles heading towards Delhi are being diverted between late night and early morning hours to facilitate repairs. The work, undertaken by Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited, is part of the second phase of maintenance that was earlier delayed due to winter and pollution-related restrictions. Authorities have advised commuters, especially airport-bound travellers, to factor in additional travel time until March 18.

Traffic movement on the Noida-Delhi Direct Flyway is being regulated at night as resurfacing work progresses on the Noida-to-Delhi carriageway. The restrictions will continue till March 18. The work is being carried out during non-peak hours, between late night and early morning, to reduce inconvenience during the day.

As part of the diversion plan, vehicles travelling from the Noida Expressway towards Delhi are being redirected via the Chilla border. Traffic from Sector 16 and Rajnigandha Chowk is required to take a U-turn and proceed towards the Chilla route before entering Delhi. Officials have indicated that the diversions may slow down traffic movement, particularly for those travelling to Indira Gandhi International Airport during early hours.

The resurfacing is being executed by Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL). Around 70 percent of the work had been completed earlier, but the remaining stretch was pending due to winter conditions and restrictions linked to pollution control measures, which limited the window for bituminous road laying. With weather conditions improving, the second phase has now resumed.

The DND Flyway is a 9.2-km corridor connecting Noida and Delhi and carries significant daily traffic. The first phase of large-scale rehabilitation was completed in 2023 ahead of an international summit held in the capital. That phase cost around INR 5 crore and included resurfacing of major portions along with upgrades to electrical systems and lighting infrastructure. The ongoing second phase is estimated to cost about INR 6 crore and focuses on improving pavement quality and durability.

Authorities have said the scheduling has been planned carefully to avoid peak-hour congestion. However, commuters using the route at night have been advised to check diversions in advance and allow extra time for travel.
