The Noida Authority has approved a INR 250 crore project to rehabilitate nearly 150 km of damaged roads across the city, with completion targeted by April. The move follows rising complaints about potholes, uneven surfaces and broken footpaths in several sectors. Work will be executed circle-wise, with multiple contractors engaged at the same time. The project includes resurfacing, strengthening base layers, rebuilding footpaths and repainting dividers. Dust control norms under national clean air guidelines will be strictly followed during execution.
The Noida Authority has launched a INR 250 crore road rehabilitation programme to restore around 150 kilometres of its road network. The work is planned to be completed by April. The decision comes after repeated complaints from residents and commuters about potholes, damaged stretches and uneven surfaces affecting daily movement across several sectors.
Officials stated that the project covers sectors under work circles 1 to 5, including sectors 11, 22, 75 and 76, where road conditions have deteriorated significantly. Many internal and arterial roads have developed deep potholes and cracked surfaces, especially after the monsoon season. In several areas, the top bitumen layer has worn out, exposing the base and leading to faster damage.
Under the rehabilitation plan, the worn-out surface will be milled and removed. Where required, weakened base layers will be strengthened before laying a fresh bituminous wearing course. The scope of work also includes repairing damaged footpaths, correcting sunken sections and repainting road dividers. In many locations, broken footpaths have forced pedestrians onto carriageways, creating safety risks. These sections will be rebuilt as part of the same contract.
This is the first major city-wide resurfacing exercise after the Authority dissolved its traffic cell and reassigned maintenance responsibilities to zonal work circles. Tenders are being floated separately for each circle to ensure faster execution. Multiple contractors will work simultaneously to meet the deadline. Payments will be linked to quality inspections and stage-wise completion to ensure durability.
Earlier, the Authority had spent close to INR 10 crore on resurfacing key stretches such as the Noida Expressway, FNG Road and DSC Road. However, rough patches reappeared in some sections, prompting the need for a broader and more structured rehabilitation plan covering internal roads as well.
Road repair activities had remained restricted for several months due to pollution control measures under the Graded Response Action Plan in the National Capital Region. With restrictions eased, the Authority has resumed large-scale work. Dust mitigation measures such as water sprinkling, covering of construction material and mechanical sweeping will be mandatory. Monitoring will be carried out under national clean air guidelines to control pollution during execution.
The Authority has indicated that progress will be reviewed regularly to ensure completion within the scheduled timeframe.
