The lease agreement was executed between Carrier India and Sri City officials. Complementing Carrier's Haryana operations, the facility aims to meet growing domestic and global demand, strengthen the state's HVAC leadership, and integrate green manufacturing practices.
Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd has signed a lease to establish a state-of-the-art air-conditioning manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, in a project valued at INR 1,000 crore. Spread across 39 acres, the facility is expected to generate around 1,000 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs, focusing on energy-efficient and sustainable cooling solutions, according to company officials.
The lease agreement was executed between Sundaresan Narayanan, Managing Director of Carrier India, and Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director of Sri City. Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd is part of Carrier Global Corporation, a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
State Minister Nara Lokesh highlighted that the investment validates Andhra Pradesh's 'Speed of Doing Business' approach. He noted that Carrier took only eight months from their initial visit to land handover and project finalisation. He added that this 39-acre facility will reinforce the state as India's leading hub for air-conditioning manufacturing while creating over 3,000 jobs.
The project follows high-level discussions with the Chief Minister and Minister Lokesh, demonstrating the state's industrial vision, infrastructure readiness, and rapid project execution. The new facility complements Carrier's existing operations in Haryana and aligns with the company's long-term growth strategy in India.
The plant will integrate green manufacturing practices to meet rising domestic and global demand for energy-efficient commercial cooling solutions. The initiative strengthens Andhra Pradesh's position as a national leader in HVAC manufacturing and a preferred destination for sustainable industrial projects.
The agreement was formalised in the presence of Tirupati District Collector Dr S. Venkateswar, who underlined the state government's focus not only on ease of doing business but also on fast delivery of projects. He described Carrier's investment as a strong testament to the rapid industrial development in the region, with Sri City emerging as a leading hub in the HVAC sector.
Sundaresan Narayanan stated that the facility will create significant employment opportunities while enabling Carrier to scale production to meet market growth. Ravindra Sannareddy welcomed Carrier to Sri City, noting that their presence will accelerate the city's transformation into a globally competitive hub for advanced manufacturing and sustainable innovation.
Carrier's decision to invest in Sri City follows earlier high-level engagements with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh, reflecting confidence in the region's industrial ecosystem. The facility complements Carrier's Haryana operations and is aligned with the company's vision for sustainable growth in India.
