The Tata Group has shown interest in working with the Telangana government on the Musi Riverfront Project while also indicating a positive investment outlook across several emerging sectors in the state, according to official sources. The discussions took place during a meeting between Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

During the interaction, the Tata Group conveyed that it remains confident about expanding its presence in Telangana, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence-led data centres, semiconductor manufacturing and electric vehicle production. The group highlighted that the state is well-positioned for its next phase of growth due to its strong talent base and developed infrastructure.

The Chief Minister used the opportunity to brief the Tata leadership on the state's plans to redevelop the Musi Riverfront, a key urban transformation project aimed at improving Hyderabad's liveability. He also shared proposals to build a structured night-time economy around the riverfront, which is expected to support tourism, retail activity and employment generation.

In response, Chandrasekaran expressed the group's willingness to support the Musi Riverfront initiative. He referred to Tata Group's prior experience in water body rejuvenation projects undertaken in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, indicating that similar expertise could be applied in Telangana.

The state delegation also presented the broader roadmap under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision, outlining long-term strategies, policy frameworks and development goals across sectors. The discussion extended to the proposed Young India Sports University and the government's plans to upgrade public sports infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening India's performance in global sporting events, including the 2036 Olympics.

Hospitality development was also featured in the talks. In response to the Chief Minister's proposal, the Tata Group stated that it is planning to set up multiple hotels across Telangana. The focus is expected to be on temple towns such as Medaram, Vemulawada and Bhadrachalam, locations that have seen rising footfall but limited organised hospitality supply.
