Synopsis

The completion of four major flyover projects in Indore has been extended to June 2026, with a combined investment of INR 267 crore. These projects aim to ease traffic at key junctions including Dewas Naka, Musakhedi, IT Park, and Satyasai squares. A recent inspection by city officials highlighted delays caused by minor encroachments and logistical challenges. Measures have been introduced to manage traffic, improve safety, and ensure construction quality. The revised timeline allows authorities to focus on timely delivery while maintaining standards across all sites.

Indore's four significant flyover projects, supported by a total investment of INR 267 crore, are now expected to be completed by June 2026. The projects, overseen by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC), aim to create signal-free junctions at Dewas Naka, Musakhedi, IT Park, and Satyasai squares, which are among the city's busiest traffic points.

A recent site inspection led by the city collector, municipal commissioner, and traffic police found that work had been slowed due to minor encroachments and logistical issues. Officials directed the removal of small structures obstructing construction and ordered closer monitoring of all project activities to keep work on track.

To minimise commuter disruption, authorities have implemented measures such as deploying additional traffic personnel, installing dust-control safety nets, and carrying out patch repairs and tarring of service lanes, particularly at Musakhedi square. These steps aim to maintain smooth traffic flow while construction continues.

Collector Shivam Verma emphasised that even with the revised deadline, the quality of construction must be maintained. He noted that regular progress reviews will be conducted in the coming months to ensure that the flyovers are completed efficiently and safely.

These flyover projects form part of Indore's broader infrastructure development plan, which includes metro expansions, bypass projects, and other key road improvements. Together, these initiatives aim to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and support the city's growing transportation needs.
