Coimbatore city's residents are about to witness a transformative change in the way they communicate with their local authorities. The city corporation is all set to launch a cutting-edge QR code-based system that promises to streamline the process of providing feedback and registering complaints.

In a move aimed at enhancing civic engagement, the corporation plans to affix QR codes on the premises of every residential and commercial property across the city. This innovative approach allows individuals to easily scan the QR code and submit feedback on a wide array of subjects, spanning from tax payment and water supply to underground drainage systems.

M Prathap, the Commissioner of the corporation, emphasized the profound impact this feedback system could have on improving municipal services. He revealed that the feedback received through this system would be meticulously analysed and taken into account while crafting policies and implementing various projects.

Beyond the convenience of providing feedback, residents will also have the facility to employ the same QR code to lodge grievances. This entails registering complaints related to any aspect concerning the city corporation.

The QR code-based initiative saw its successful debut in ward 74 of the west zone, garnering participation from numerous residents. Buoyed by this triumph, the corporation is now on the verge of expanding the system to encompass all 100 wards citywide. However, the process encountered a brief hiatus due to the involvement of corporation employees in handling applications for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai. Commissioner Prathap assured the public that the QR code affixing process would recommence after the completion of this administrative task.

An assistant commissioner from one of the city's zones highlighted the existing avenues available for residents to submit feedback and complaints, namely through phone calls and emails. Although these methods are displayed on the corporation's official website, the introduction of the QR code-based system is projected to greatly simplify the entire process.

Anticipating a surge in the volume of complaints and feedback once the system is fully operational, the corporation is optimistic about the positive changes this technological leap will usher in for Coimbatore's residents.
