GoodEnough Energy has commenced operations at its 7 GWh Battery Energy Storage System gigafactory in Noida, with plans to expand capacity to 25 GWh over the next three years. Backed by an investment of over INR 450 crore, the facility supports India's National Energy Storage Mission and net-zero goals. The company has also started rolling out storage projects nationwide, seeing strong demand across sectors. At current capacity, the plant is expected to help reduce over 5 million tonnes of CO? emissions annually.
GoodEnough Energy has started operations at its Battery Energy Storage System manufacturing plant in Noida, marking a significant step in India's energy storage landscape. The facility is currently operational with an installed capacity of 7 GWh and is planned to be scaled up to 25 GWh over the next three years.
The company has also begun deploying its battery energy storage systems across the country. It has reported strong demand and positive responses from large companies operating across multiple sectors, indicating growing acceptance of grid-scale storage solutions in India.
With this development, GoodEnough Energy has commissioned what it describes as the country's largest Battery Energy Storage System gigafactory. The plant's commissioning places India on a stronger footing in a sector that has traditionally been dominated by manufacturers from China and other global markets.
Founded in 2023 by Adit Agarwal, Akash Kaushik, and Gaurav Aggarwal, GoodEnough Energy focuses on developing advanced energy storage solutions for domestic and international markets. The Noida facility, now fully operational at its initial capacity, is positioned as a key infrastructure asset supporting India's clean energy transition.
The company stated that the gigafactory reflects India's push towards technological self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. The project has seen an investment of over INR 450 crore and aligns with national priorities such as the National Energy Storage Mission and the country's long-term net-zero targets.
Expansion plans are already underway to increase the plant's capacity beyond 25 GWh within the next three years. Once completed, this scale-up is expected to strengthen India's role in global grid-scale battery storage manufacturing.
The company's founders indicated that the Noida facility is intended to go beyond manufacturing by supporting innovation, green employment, and climate-focused development. They highlighted that the project complements government initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive scheme and contributes to building a more resilient energy ecosystem.
At its current operating level, the gigafactory is designed to support high-emission sectors including manufacturing, infrastructure, healthcare, mining, and commercial real estate. The company estimates that the facility can help avoid more than 5 million tonnes of CO? emissions annually, a reduction comparable to the yearly carbon savings targeted by Indian Railways.
