Synopsis

Haryana has received coal allocation from the central government for an 800 MW expansion unit at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Khedar, Hisar. This allocation, made under the SHAKTI Scheme, will ensure a long-term, steady fuel supply and help prevent power generation disruptions. The expansion is expected to significantly enhance the state's electricity capacity, supporting industrial, agricultural, and domestic needs. The move reflects Haryana's commitment to energy security, affordable supply, and long-term infrastructure development.

The central government has allocated coal linkage for the new 800 MW expansion unit at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant in Khedar, Hisar district, marking a significant step for electricity consumers in Haryana, Energy Minister Anil Vij stated. This move is expected to ensure a stable, reliable, and high-quality power supply across the state, supporting Haryana's energy security and consumer welfare.

Vij highlighted that the coal allocation has been granted under the Centre's SHAKTI Scheme for the new unit at Khedar. He added that a new coal block will soon be assigned to the state, which will provide a steady and long-term supply of fuel for the project.

According to the Energy Minister, securing the coal linkage will speed up the project's implementation and prevent any potential disruptions in power generation due to fuel shortages. The expansion is expected to strengthen Haryana's energy security while meeting the increasing electricity demand.

The Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant has already become a key part of the state's power infrastructure. The addition of the 800 MW unit will further boost overall electricity generation capacity, ensuring adequate supply to industrial areas, agriculture, and domestic consumers.

Vij also noted that the state government aims to make Haryana self-reliant in electricity, providing affordable, sustainable, and uninterrupted power to consumers. The central allocation of coal is seen as a major achievement in advancing this goal and will support long-term energy planning in the state. He emphasized that Haryana is committed to modernizing and strengthening its energy infrastructure and is likely to emerge as a leading state in the energy sector in the coming years.
