Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath has ordered a comprehensive review and removal of bottlenecks hindering road construction across the state, underscoring the government's focus on improving connectivity and accelerating infrastructure delivery. During the review, he instructed the chief secretary to convene regular meetings with senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department to monitor progress and resolve project delays. District magistrates have been tasked with weekly reviews of land acquisition and other local challenges, with an emphasis on direct engagement with affected landowners without involving intermediaries. The move is part of broader efforts to ensure smoother execution of widening and strengthening works on key road networks, improve accessibility, and bolster economic development through enhanced mobility.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath has stepped up efforts to tackle persistent bottlenecks in road construction and infrastructure delivery across the state, directing top officials to streamline processes and ensure faster completion of key network projects. The initiative comes as part of a high-level review aimed at improving connectivity, supporting economic growth, and enhancing accessibility for residents and businesses.
In his review, the chief minister emphasized the strategic importance of a robust transportation network, particularly the widening and strengthening of both national and state highways. To this end, he instructed the chief secretary to organize periodic, forthright review meetings involving senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (UPPWD). These meetings will focus on closely monitoring project progress and identifying issues that are delaying execution.
At the district level, Adityanath has tasked district magistrates with holding weekly meetings to address bottlenecks related to land acquisition and other local impediments within their jurisdictions. Officials were directed to engage directly with affected communities and land title holders to negotiate solutions, deliberately avoiding the involvement of middlemen or brokers that can complicate and delay negotiations. The chief minister also urged engineers from UPPWD to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for land acquisition aligned with NHAI timelines, helping to speed up project approvals and execution.
The directive forms part of the state government's broader drive to enhance infrastructure delivery by fostering proactive, transparent and accountable governance. Uttar Pradesh has been pushing to complete expansive road networks and expressway projects, which are crucial to regional connectivity and economic integration, while also balancing environmental and community considerations. The CM's instructions aim not only to reduce delays but also to build trust with local stakeholders through regular engagement and greater transparency.
By addressing administrative and operational bottlenecks head-on, the government hopes to accelerate the pace of infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh, laying the groundwork for improved mobility, investment attraction and inclusive growth across urban and rural areas alike.
