HOSMAC has designed and developed Cipla's newly inaugurated Breathefree Lung Wellness Centre in Mumbai, strengthening the pharmaceutical major's focus on integrated and preventive respiratory healthcare. Spread across about 8,000 sq. ft. in Prabhadevi, the single-level facility has been conceived as a one-stop destination for lung diagnostics and wellness services. Inaugurated on 26 January 2026, the centre reflects a wellness-led design philosophy that departs from conventional clinical environments. HOSMAC delivered a comprehensive turnkey solution covering medical space planning, MEP design and interiors, ensuring regulatory compliance and patient-centric efficiency. Notably, the project involved adaptive reuse, with a former banquet hall transformed into a fully functional healthcare facility. The centre builds on Cipla and HOSMAC's earlier collaboration in Delhi and underlines a shared focus on accessible, sustainable and human-centric respiratory care.
Asia-based hospital planning and healthcare consultancy HOSMAC has completed the design and development of Cipla's Breathefree Lung Wellness Centre in Mumbai, marking another milestone in the pharmaceutical company's expanding respiratory healthcare network. Located in Prabhadevi, the approximately 8,000 sq. ft. facility was inaugurated on 26 January 2026 and is positioned as a comprehensive destination for lung health diagnostics, therapy and wellness services.
Planned entirely on a single ground-floor level, the centre has been delivered through a turnkey design approach. HOSMAC's scope included medical space planning, MEP design and interior design, ensuring that clinical functionality, regulatory requirements and patient comfort were seamlessly integrated. The project follows the successful completion of Cipla's Lung Health Centre in Delhi, reinforcing the ongoing partnership between the two organisations in developing accessible and experience-led healthcare environments.
A key architectural feature of the Mumbai centre is its adaptive reuse. The facility was earlier a banquet hall and required extensive structural assessment and retrofitting to convert it into a fully compliant healthcare space. The transformation was executed while preserving structural integrity and aligning with healthcare norms, demonstrating how underutilised urban spaces can be efficiently repurposed for medical use.
Moving away from traditional sterile hospital aesthetics, the design concept is anchored in the theme of wellness. Interiors have been curated to create calming and welcoming environments that help reduce anxiety for patients, attendants and medical staff. The use of eco-friendly materials further supports sustainability goals while enhancing the overall sensory experience within the facility.
The Breathefree Lung Wellness Centre in Mumbai houses three outpatient consultation rooms, a waiting area accommodating 18 to 20 people, a sputum laboratory, a physiotherapy unit, and advanced diagnostic services including CT scan and X-ray facilities. Careful planning of circulation and zoning ensures smooth patient flow while maintaining high standards of clinical care within the constraints of an existing structure.
Commenting on the project, Dr Vivek Desai, Founder and Managing Director of HOSMAC, said that modern healthcare must extend beyond diagnosis and treatment to support dignity, emotional comfort and long-term wellness. He added that respiratory care, in particular, benefits from environments that reduce stress and improve efficiency, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes.
The Mumbai centre further strengthens Cipla's Breathefree initiative, highlighting how thoughtful design and adaptive reuse can play a critical role in delivering scalable, patient-centric healthcare infrastructure in urban settings.
