Gurugram's DTCP takes action, shuts 14 commercial outlets in residential zones

Synopsis

In a consecutive second day crackdown, DTCP's enforcement unit targeted illicit commercial setups within private residential colonies. A total of 14 establishments were sealed in DLF Phase 2, and over 150 businesses in DLF Phase II received warnings and restoration directives from DIP Enforcement. Led by DTPE Manish Yadav, the enforcement team sealed 14 operations spanning seven houses along Jacaranda Marg and Bougainvillea Marg. With 100 businesses already sealed in various licensed colonies, the enforcement drive remains ongoing, urging voluntary cessation to avoid immediate sealing actions.

The Department of Town and Country Planning's (DTCP) enforcement wing is intensifying its efforts against illicit commercial enterprises operating within private residential areas in Gurugram. In an official statement released last week, it was disclosed that over 150 illegal commercial activities in DLF Phase 2 received showcase notices and restoration orders from the DTCP Enforcement. However, a majority of these entities failed to provide satisfactory explanations or take steps to revert the property to its original state.

The enforcement operation was spearheaded by a team led by DTP Enforcement Officer, Manish Yadav. This team effectively sealed 14 businesses operating out of seven residential properties, all situated on Jacaranda Marg and Bougainvillea Marg in DLF Phase 2.

Speaking to the press, Yadav went on to underscore the ongoing nature of the enforcement campaign, signalling that this strict approach will persist. Yadav stressed the importance of voluntary cessation of such activities by the involved parties, as continued non-compliance will lead to immediate sealing actions on the spot. To date, around 100 illicit activities have been forcibly shut down across various licensed colonies.

This operation follows a similar initiative undertaken on the previous day when the enforcement wing took action against 19 illegally operating commercial establishments in DLF Phase 3, another well-known residential enclave in Gurugram.

The crackdown on illegal commercial activities within residential neighbourhoods is in line with the DTCP's mission to ensure that urban planning regulations are upheld and that residential zones remain free from disruptive commercial enterprises. Residents have voiced their support for the stringent actions, noting that such measures are essential to maintain the peaceful and secure nature of their residential communities.

As the DTCP's enforcement efforts persist, the department urges property owners and business operators to adhere to zoning laws and to transition their activities to appropriate commercial zones.
