Synopsis

Paradeep Parivahan Ltd (PPL), a BSE SME-listed logistics provider, has entered an eight-year agreement with UltraTech Cement Ltd to deploy a large fleet of electric trucks for bulk transportation between Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The initiative, supported by Energy In Motion Limited (EIM) for charging and battery-swapping infrastructure, aims to replace diesel vehicles and cut around 15,000-20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The project aligns with national EV policies and ESG goals, highlighting the growing adoption of electric mobility in industrial freight and setting a benchmark for sustainable logistics in heavy industries.

Paradeep Parivahan Ltd (PPL), a BSE SME-listed end-to-end logistics company, has signed an eight-year agreement with UltraTech Cement Ltd to operate one of India's largest trans-state electric truck fleets for bulk logistics. The project covers heavy-duty transportation between UltraTech's facilities in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, replacing conventional diesel trucks on this high-volume industrial corridor. The initiative is expected to demonstrate the commercial and operational feasibility of electric mobility in long-haul industrial logistics.

The large-scale deployment is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by roughly 15,000-20,000 tonnes per year, supporting UltraTech Cement-s efforts to lower carbon intensity across its operations. Energy In Motion Limited (EIM) will provide charging infrastructure, battery-swapping solutions, and operational support, ensuring reliable and continuous EV-based freight movement. This collaboration reflects a step toward scalable, sustainable logistics solutions in the industrial sector.

The agreement aligns with government programs like PM E-DRIVE and broader ESG-focused policies promoting decarbonisation in commercial transport. Industry experts note that the project sets a benchmark for green logistics in challenging sectors such as cement, mining, and bulk materials, where electrification of transport has traditionally been difficult. Senior representatives from UltraTech Cement, Paradeep Parivahan, and EIM were present during the signing of the agreement.

Khalid Khan, chairman and managing director of Paradeep Parivahan, described the agreement as a defining step in the company's transition to sustainable industrial logistics, strengthening its long-term growth strategy. Paradeep Parivahan's operations span key ports and industrial hubs, with expertise in multimodal transportation, heavy equipment movement, and large-scale freight handling, positioning it to manage complex EV logistics effectively.

The partnership also reflects the growing momentum for electrification in commercial and industrial transportation in India. By integrating large EV fleets with operational support and infrastructure, it offers a practical model for other companies seeking to reduce emissions while maintaining logistics efficiency.
