Synopsis

Nashik district handed over more than 75,000 newly built houses to rural beneficiaries on Republic Day, marking a significant milestone in government housing initiatives. Approximately 51,000 houses were built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), while around 24,000 were delivered through various state housing schemes. Beneficiaries included families from Scheduled Castes and Tribes, low income groups, widows, and persons with disabilities. The district administration coordinated with Panchayati Raj institutions, gram panchayats, and local officials to ensure timely completion, payment, and handover of homes, advancing the goal of & housing for all.

Authorities in Nashik district completed the construction and officially handed over more than 75,000 homes to rural beneficiaries on Republic Day. Of these, around 51,000 were built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), while the remaining 24,000 were delivered through state government housing programmes.

The district administration ensured that construction and payments were completed on schedule, allowing beneficiaries to receive keys on Republic Day. Local officials highlighted that coordination between Zilla Parishad, taluka administrations, Panchayati Raj institutions, and gram panchayats was crucial for the timely execution of these projects.

The distribution process involved elected representatives, administrative officers, and gram panchayat members, who personally handed over the keys to beneficiaries. Families receiving new homes included Scheduled Castes and Tribes, nomadic and denotified tribes, widows, low-income households, persons with disabilities, and other economically weaker sections. Officials noted that prioritising vulnerable groups was a key part of the housing programmes.

Earlier reports indicated that Nashik district had more than 1.44 lakh homes under construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with first instalments being credited to eligible beneficiaries as work progressed. The district has consistently focused on ensuring timely completion, quality construction, and transparent payments to support the national mission of providing affordable housing in rural areas.

Local authorities also emphasized that such large-scale handovers strengthen the overall development of villages, improve living conditions, and create opportunities for better access to basic services. The initiative aligns with broader government efforts to ensure housing for all, particularly for socially and economically disadvantaged groups.
