The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to organise its first-ever Green Expo on 14-15 February 2026 at Baansera Park, New Delhi, positioning the event as a national platform for sustainable urban development. Anchored in the recent rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains through projects such as Asita, Baansera and Yamuna Vatika, the Expo will focus on urban greening, nature-based solutions and climate-first planning. The two-day event is expected to bring together policymakers, international experts, urban practitioners and industry stakeholders to showcase innovations in green infrastructure and sustainable city ecosystems. Through exhibitions, expert sessions and collaborations, the Expo aims to promote scalable and replicable solutions for cities grappling with climate, water and environmental challenges, reinforcing DDA's long-term vision for environmentally responsible urban growth.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced plans to host the city's first-ever Green Expo, scheduled for 14 and 15 February 2026 at Baansera Park in New Delhi. The two-day exhibition is positioned as a flagship initiative aimed at advancing sustainable urban development, urban greening and climate-resilient planning, while reflecting the Authority's evolving approach towards embedding environmental priorities in city-building.
The Expo draws inspiration from recent initiatives undertaken on the Yamuna floodplains, where public green spaces such as Asita, Baansera, Vasudev Ghat and Yamuna Vatika have been developed. These projects have not only contributed to ecological restoration but have also increased public engagement with the riverfront. Building on this experience, the Green Expo is envisioned as a national-level platform aligned with global best practices in sustainability and climate-responsive urban development.
According to the DDA, the Expo will feature exhibitions, live demonstrations and expert-led sessions highlighting innovations in sustainable urban ecosystems, landscape restoration and green infrastructure. A strong emphasis will be placed on solutions that are scalable and replicable, particularly for cities facing mounting pressures from climate change, water scarcity and environmental degradation. The event will also host panel discussions and structured knowledge exchanges aimed at fostering collaboration between government agencies, research institutions and private sector participants.
Strategic partnerships and memorandums of understanding are expected to be formalised during the Expo, with the objective of supporting long-term, climate-sensitive urban initiatives. The platform is designed to move beyond conceptual discussions and focus on practical, implementable solutions that can be adopted across diverse urban contexts.
The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Chairman of the DDA, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has indicated that cities need to move away from conventional growth models and place sustainability, resilience and citizen wellbeing at the centre of development. He noted that the Expo would encourage a collaborative, climate-first mindset, integrating native landscaping, water- and waste-sensitive planning and nature-based solutions into urban projects.
Vice-Chairman N. Saravana Kumar stated that the Green Expo reflects how the DDA is rethinking urban development to address contemporary challenges. He added that the initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of climate-responsive practices through partnerships, knowledge sharing and citizen participation.
As Delhi's statutory planning and land-owning authority, the DDA plays a pivotal role in shaping the capital's urban and environmental landscape. In this context, the Green Expo 2026 is positioned as a significant step towards promoting future-ready, people-centric and environmentally responsible urban development in the national capital.
