Synopsis

IRB Infrastructure and Developers has started toll collection on two major highway sections in Uttar Pradesh, covering Lucknow-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur (NH-27) and Lucknow-Sultanpur (NH-731). This follows an upfront payment of INR 9,270 crore to NHAI and completion of financial closure. Managed through the project SPV, IRB Harihara Corridors, the highways will operate under a 20-year revenue-linked concession. The corridors connect key cultural and religious cities, enhancing travel safety and regional development. IRB Infra, India's largest private toll road developer, manages assets of around INR 94,000 crore across 13 states.

IRB Infrastructure and Developers has started toll collection on the Lucknow-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur section of NH-27 and the Lucknow-Sultanpur section of the Lucknow-Varanasi NH-731.

The company commenced operations after making an upfront concession fee payment of INR 9,270 crore to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and achieving financial closure for the project. Toll collection is being carried out through the project-specific vehicle, IRB Harihara Corridors, under a revenue-linked concession period of 20 years.

According to Virendra D Mhaiskar, Chairman and Managing Director of IRB Group, the NH-27 corridor connects several of India's most significant cultural and religious cities. He noted that the highway will support safe, efficient, and seamless travel for millions of pilgrims and daily commuters while contributing to the development of the region.

IRB Infrastructure Trust had become the highest bidder for NHAI's TOT-17 bundle, which includes the Lucknow-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur (NH-27) corridor and the Lucknow-Sultanpur stretch of the Lucknow-Varanasi (NH-731) corridor, covering a combined length of 366 km. The company received the Letter of Award in mid-November 2025 and signed the concession agreement with NHAI in December 2025.

Based in Mumbai, IRB Infra is India's largest integrated private toll roads and highway infrastructure developer, with assets totaling around INR 94,000 crore across 13 states.
