NTPC Green Energy Ltd is set to begin commercial operations of a 69 MW solar power capacity at Khavda in Gujarat from Thursday, marking another milestone in its renewable energy expansion. The capacity forms part of the larger 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III. With this addition, NTPC Green Energy's total installed renewable capacity will rise to 7,996.30 MW, while the overall installed capacity of the NTPC Group will reach 85,610 MW. The development underscores NTPC's commitment to accelerating India's clean energy transition.
NTPC Green Energy Ltd, the renewable energy arm of NTPC, has announced that it will commence commercial operations of a 69 MW solar power capacity at Khavda in Gujarat this week. The project is part of the Khavda-I Solar PV initiative, which has a total planned capacity of 1,255 MW and is being implemented under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III.
The commissioning of this capacity represents a significant step forward in NTPC Green Energy's renewable growth trajectory. With the latest addition, the company's cumulative installed renewable energy capacity will increase to 7,996.30 MW. At the group level, NTPC's total installed power generation capacity will now stand at 85,610 MW, further strengthening its position as India's largest power producer.
The Khavda solar project is located in one of the country's most promising renewable energy zones and is expected to play a key role in supporting India's national targets for clean and sustainable energy. Large-scale solar developments in the region are aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels while ensuring long-term energy security.
NTPC Green Energy continues to expand its renewable portfolio across solar, wind and hybrid projects, aligned with the broader strategy of the NTPC Group to significantly scale up non-fossil fuel-based capacity in the coming years.
