Premji Invest has acquired a 2.61% stake in National Highways Infra Trust through open market transactions, investing around INR 754 crore. The purchase was executed via Prazim Trading and Investment Company, which bought over 5 crore units at an average price of INR 149.06 per unit on the NSE. Vidyaniti LLP sold the same number of units at the same price. NHIT units closed slightly higher after the deal. The trust, sponsored by NHAI, was set up in 2021 under the National Monetisation Pipeline.
Private equity firm Premji Invest has picked up a 2.61% unit-holding in National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT) through open market transactions, marking a fresh institutional investment in the infrastructure investment trust backed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The acquisition was carried out through Prazim Trading and Investment Company Pvt Ltd, an arm of Premji Invest, which purchased a total of 5.06 crore units of NHIT. The units were bought at an average price of INR 149.06 per unit, taking the total deal value to around INR 754.24 crore, according to bulk deal data available on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The transaction saw Vidyaniti LLP offload an identical number of units at the same price on the NSE, indicating a direct counterparty exit through the open market. Prazim Trading and Investment Company is part of the promoter group of IT major Wipro and manages long-term investments across listed and unlisted assets.
Following the transaction, NHIT units ended the trading session marginally higher, closing about 0.57% up at around INR 149 per unit on the NSE, reflecting steady investor interest.
Earlier this year, Vidyaniti LLP, along with another entity, had acquired a 4.25% unit-holding in NHIT for around INR 1,100 crore from NHAI. That transaction was part of NHAI's planned stake dilution to recycle capital for new highway development.
NHIT was established in 2021 as an infrastructure investment trust sponsored by NHAI to support the government's National Monetisation Pipeline. The trust holds operational national highway assets and distributes cash flows to unitholders, providing long-term yield exposure to road infrastructure.
