Welspun World has commenced commercial operations at its newly developed ductile iron pipe manufacturing facility in Anjar, Gujarat, marking an important addition to its infrastructure portfolio. The facility has been developed as part of a multi-crore INR brownfield expansion and adds 200 kilo metric tonnes per annum to the group's production capacity.

With this addition, Welspun World's total annual ductile iron pipe capacity has increased to 400 kilo metric tonnes. The company stated that the expansion strengthens its manufacturing base and supports growing demand for water and sewage infrastructure across the country.

The extended project was inaugurated by Union Minister for Jal Shakti C R Patil. The group said the new plant further expands its presence in the infrastructure and water management segments, where ductile iron pipes are widely used for water supply and sewage transportation networks.

According to the company, the facility is expected to support major government-led water initiatives, including the Jal Shakti Abhiyan and the Jal Jeevan Mission. These programmes focus on improving water security and ensuring access to safe drinking water for households across urban and rural India.

The minister, as conveyed in the company's statement, highlighted that ongoing efforts under these national programmes are aimed at strengthening water security and delivering adequate and safe drinking water to every household. Welspun World indicated that the new capacity will help meet execution requirements for such large-scale infrastructure projects.

Welspun World has been steadily expanding its manufacturing capabilities in recent years, aligning its investments with India's long-term focus on water infrastructure, sanitation, and urban development. The Anjar facility forms part of this broader strategy to support public infrastructure creation through domestic manufacturing.
