The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has appointed a consultant to develop a detailed service master plan for its notified area. The plan aims to strengthen water supply, sewerage, and stormwater drainage infrastructure while aligning with the broader Master Plan 2041. The consultant will assess current systems, identify gaps, map natural drainage, study land-use patterns, population trends, and industrial and institutional activity. The initiative will also include detailed field surveys and verification of existing infrastructure to ensure sustainable urban growth and reliable utility services across the region.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated the preparation of a comprehensive service master plan to improve utility infrastructure across its notified area. The authority has appointed a consultant to focus on water supply, sewerage, and stormwater drainage systems, aiming to address current deficiencies and prepare for future urban growth. The plan will form a technical roadmap to ensure reliable infrastructure as development in the region accelerates.
YEIDA officials highlighted that the plan will begin with an in-depth evaluation of existing systems to assess their capacity, functionality, and performance. This assessment will help identify gaps and areas needing enhancement. Based on these findings, the consultant will develop an integrated framework that ensures sustainable service delivery for both present requirements and projected growth in population and urban activity.
The service master plan differs from the statutory Master Plan 2041 by providing a technical and actionable approach. While the statutory master plan outlines general urban development objectives, the service master plan translates these goals into specific infrastructure strategies, ensuring robust water supply, sewerage, and drainage networks that can accommodate long-term urbanisation.
The consultant's work will include studying land-use patterns, population density, industrial zones, institutional facilities, soil types, and climate conditions across the YEIDA area. Detailed mapping of natural drainage channels, watershed boundaries, catchments, existing stormwater nallahs, and other utility networks will be undertaken. This will help integrate the proposed improvements with existing infrastructure, supporting both residential and commercial development.
Field surveys and data verification will form a core part of the planning process. The consultant will map drains, manholes, pumping stations, pipelines, and stormwater conveyance systems, ensuring a complete understanding of the current infrastructure. The plan will also consider the evolving needs of the area, incorporating future land-use projections and population growth estimates under the Master Plan 2041 framework.
YEIDA's decision comes amid ongoing development activities in the Yamuna Expressway region, including housing scheme adjustments, land acquisition for connectivity projects, and anti-encroachment measures to secure land for public utilities and road expansions. These efforts reflect the authority's continued focus on structured urban development, planned infrastructure, and sustainable growth.
