The Indore Metro project is moving into its next development phase, with authorities working to extend the operational corridor up to Radisson Square, a major commercial and hospitality hub. The expansion will convert the existing Super Priority Corridor into a longer stretch of nearly 17 km, improving connectivity and passenger reach. Most civil and systems work on the extended corridor is nearing completion. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav is expected to review project progress soon, including timelines and alignment plans. Proposals such as limited underground sections in congested areas are also under consideration. The extension is aimed at boosting public transport usage, easing traffic congestion and supporting Indore's long-term urban mobility and infrastructure growth plans.

Officials from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation have indicated that the existing Super Priority Corridor is being upgraded into a longer priority corridor spanning nearly 17 kilometres. Construction work on this extended stretch is reported to be in advanced stages, with a majority of civil and systems work already completed. The extension to Radisson Square is seen as critical for integrating the metro network with high-traffic zones and strengthening last-mile connectivity.
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav is scheduled to review the progress of the Indore Metro in the coming days, as the state prepares for the formal launch of metro services in Bhopal. The review is expected to focus on construction timelines, operational readiness and alignment-related decisions that could influence future phases of the project.
Among the proposals under consideration is the possibility of introducing underground sections along certain congested stretches, including areas near the airport and densely populated neighbourhoods. Such a move is aimed at minimising land acquisition challenges, reducing disruption to existing infrastructure and ensuring smoother execution in built-up areas. Any modification to the approved alignment would require clearances from both the state and central authorities.
Following the review, officials are expected to firm up timelines for safety inspections and commercial operations of the extended corridor. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety is likely to carry out statutory inspections early next year, after which the extension could be opened to the public.
The Indore Metro, under construction since 2019, is a cornerstone of the city's urban mobility strategy. The planned expansion is intended to enhance public transport adoption, ease traffic congestion and support sustainable urban growth, as Madhya Pradesh accelerates the rollout of metro rail systems in its major cities.
