Horizon Industrial Parks has strengthened its partnership with automotive components manufacturer Benteler Automotive India by leasing additional manufacturing space at its Chakan facility in Pune. The new lease underscores the growing demand for high-quality industrial infrastructure in established automobile hubs and reflects the broader push towards localisation within India's manufacturing ecosystem. By expanding its footprint, Benteler aims to reduce dependence on imports and improve supply-chain efficiency through in-house production capabilities. The development also highlights how integrated industrial parks with strategic locations, sustainability features and modern layouts are increasingly attracting global manufacturers looking to scale operations in India. This expansion reinforces Pune's position as a key automotive and manufacturing cluster and signals continued momentum in the country's industrial real estate sector.
Horizon Industrial Parks has leased an additional 1.36 lakh square feet of manufacturing space in Pune to Benteler Automotive India, marking a significant expansion of the automotive supplier's operations at the Chakan industrial hub. The new facility is located at Horizon Industrial Park Chakan II and builds on Benteler's existing presence within the park.
Benteler has been operating a manufacturing unit of around 1.28 lakh square feet at the same location since October 2021. With the addition of the newly leased space, the company is set to scale up its production capabilities and deepen its manufacturing footprint in India. The expansion reflects Benteler's long-term commitment to the Indian automotive market and its strategy to strengthen local sourcing.
The newly leased facility will enable Benteler to undertake in-house production of specialised tubes used in torsion beams, a component that was earlier fully imported. These tubes will subsequently be processed at Benteler's existing plant within the industrial park to manufacture rear axle beams. This integrated setup is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce lead times and improve overall supply-chain resilience.
By localising a critical stage of production, Benteler aims to reduce its reliance on imports and mitigate risks associated with global supply disruptions. The move also aligns with the broader trend among global manufacturers to expand domestic production in India, driven by cost efficiencies, growing domestic demand and supportive industrial policies.
For Horizon Industrial Parks, the transaction highlights the appeal of well-planned industrial ecosystems that offer proximity to major manufacturing clusters, efficient layouts and modern infrastructure. The Chakan region has emerged as one of India's most prominent automobile and manufacturing hubs, attracting both global and domestic players across the automotive value chain.
Horizon Industrial Parks operates a large portfolio of industrial, logistics and city parks across multiple markets in India, spanning thousands of acres and millions of square feet of leasable area. The latest leasing deal reinforces the role of organised industrial real estate platforms in supporting the expansion plans of manufacturing companies and strengthening India's industrial base.
