The National Highways Authority of India has achieved two Guinness World Records during construction of the Bengaluru Kadapa Vijayawada Expressway in Andhra Pradesh. The records were set for laying 28.95 lane-kilometres of bituminous concrete and placing 10,675 metric tonnes of the material continuously within 24 hours. Executed on the Vanavolu Vankarakunta stretch near Puttaparthi by Rajpath Infracon Private Ltd, the milestone highlights improved construction capacity, planning efficiency, and quality control in India's highway development programme.
The National Highways Authority of India has recorded two Guinness World Records during construction activity on the Bengaluru Kadapa Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G) in Andhra Pradesh. The achievement relates to the continuous laying of 28.95 lane-kilometres of bituminous concrete and the placement of 10,675 metric tonnes of the material within a single 24-hour period, marking the highest documented output of its kind on a highway project.
The records were achieved on the Vanavolu Vankarakunta section of the expressway near Puttaparthi. The construction work was executed by Rajpath Infracon Private Ltd under the supervision of NHAI engineers. The operation involved round-the-clock coordination of machinery, material supply, workforce deployment, and quality testing to ensure that construction standards were maintained despite the compressed timeline.
State leadership noted that the accomplishment reflects the central government's focus on accelerating highway development and improving execution efficiency on large infrastructure projects. The effort was also linked to ongoing reforms in project management, contractor capability, and adoption of improved construction practices across national highway works.
The Bengaluru Kadapa Vijayawada Expressway is a key greenfield corridor designed to improve connectivity between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Once completed, it is expected to reduce travel time, improve freight movement, and support regional economic activity along its alignment.
Following the two confirmed records, project teams are now working towards attempting two additional Guinness World Records on Package two and Package three of the same corridor. These attempts are scheduled to take place by January 11, 2026, and will again focus on large-scale continuous construction within limited timeframes.
