Synopsis

IRB Infrastructure Trust has secured a toll-operate-transfer (TOT) highway project in Odisha for an upfront consideration of INR 3,087 crore, marking its entry into the state's road infrastructure sector. The project forms part of the national highway asset monetisation programme and covers a key stretch of the Chandikhole Bhadrak corridor on NH-26. The award strengthens IRB's growing toll-road portfolio and is expected to significantly enhance future revenue visibility. With this addition, the trust continues to scale its asset base and reinforce its position as India's largest private toll-road developer. The project also aligns with IRB's long-term strategy of expanding across high-traffic national corridors while generating stable annuity-like cash flows.

IRB Infrastructure Trust has been awarded a toll-operate-transfer highway project in Odisha for an upfront consideration of INR 3,087 crore, strengthening its national footprint and marking its first entry into the eastern state. The project has been granted under the government's ongoing highway asset monetisation initiative and reflects continued private sector participation in India's infrastructure development agenda.

The trust has received a Letter of Award for a bundle covering 74.5 km of the Chandikhole to Bhadrak corridor on National Highway-26. This stretch forms an important part of the Golden Quadrilateral network and serves as a key arterial route supporting regional and interstate traffic movement. Under the TOT framework, the trust will operate, maintain and collect toll revenues from the corridor for a specified concession period.

IRB Infrastructure Trust is sponsored by IRB Infrastructure Developers and operates as a private infrastructure investment trust focused on toll road assets. The latest award significantly enhances the scale and geographic diversity of its portfolio, while adding a mature, revenue-generating asset with established traffic patterns.

Commenting on the development, the company's leadership highlighted that the addition of this project places IRB on a faster growth trajectory toward building an asset portfolio valued at approximately INR 1 lakh crore in the near future. The inclusion of the latest TOT projects is expected to collectively increase toll revenues by around INR 1,000 crore in FY27, providing long-term cash flow stability.

IRB Infrastructure Developers, along with its two InvIT platforms, currently manages an asset base exceeding INR 90,000 crore spread across 13 states. The group is the largest private toll roads and highways developer in the country, with a diversified portfolio spanning build-operate-transfer, hybrid annuity and TOT projects.

The Odisha project further reinforces IRB's strategy of acquiring operational highway assets with predictable revenue streams, while supporting the broader objective of improving road infrastructure efficiency and monetising public assets through private investment.
