Synopsis

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation intensified its UD tax recovery efforts in Murlipura, attaching five properties after owners failed to pay outstanding dues. Following the action, property owners promptly cleared around INR 8 lakh using a government waiver on interest and penalties, showing the effectiveness of the enforcement and incentive scheme. In addition, two marriage halls were sealed for not paying registration fees. The move highlights the civic body's ongoing strategy to ensure timely tax collection, maintain municipal revenue, and reinforce compliance with regulations while safeguarding transparency and accountability in urban administration.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation has strengthened its enforcement of urban development (UD) tax collection in the Murlipura zone. Five properties were attached after their owners did not settle pending dues, reflecting the civic body's focus on improving revenue collection for municipal operations.

Following the attachments, all five property owners immediately paid about INR 8 lakh through RTGS, cheques, and cash, benefiting from the government's waiver on interest and penalties. Murlipura zone DC Pawan Kumar Sharma noted that property owners took advantage of this scheme to clear dues on the spot, which promoted transparency and prompt recovery while highlighting the importance of compliance.

The properties attached included Plot No 11, Khasra No 906 and 907, Dev Nagar, Badarna; Plot No 1/2/3, Khasra No 906 and 907, Dev Nagar, Badarna; 55 JA Colony near Shiv Shakti Misthan Bhandar, VKI Road No 17; and 54 JS Colony near Shiv Shakti Misthan Bhandar, VKI Road No 17. These covered both residential and commercial plots, demonstrating the wide scope of enforcement.

In addition to property attachments, two marriage halls located in JS Colony near Laxmi School, Road No 17, were sealed for failing to pay registration fees. Officials clarified that any property or facility that fails to pay its dues could face attachment or sealing until obligations are cleared.

Sharma emphasized that the municipal corporation would continue strict enforcement, with the goal of ensuring timely tax collection, maintaining financial stability, and upholding compliance with municipal regulations. UD tax represents a critical source of revenue for Jaipur, funding essential urban services and infrastructure. By combining enforcement with limited-time incentives like penalty waivers, the civic authority has been able to secure rapid compliance and reinforce accountability among property owners.
