India's PRAGATI platform has successfully fast-tracked over 3,300 delayed infrastructure projects, valued at approximately INR 85 lakh crore. Through regular review meetings, it has raised 7,735 implementation issues and resolved 7,156, addressing obstacles like land acquisition, forest and environmental clearances, right-of-way disputes, power connections, and financial bottlenecks. Projects such as the Jammu Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla rail link and Navi Mumbai airport were completed faster due to this intervention. PRAGATI also monitors 61 flagship government schemes, strengthens inter-ministerial coordination, and provides a platform to resolve citizen grievances across multiple sectors.
India's PRAGATI (Pro Active Governance And Timely Implementation) platform has played a key role in advancing stalled infrastructure projects across the country. The Cabinet Secretary reported that more than 3,300 projects, with a total investment of around INR 85 lakh crore, have been expedited under this mechanism. Advertisement
High-priority projects such as the Jammu Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla rail link illustrate PRAGATI's impact. Only 40 percent of this rail project had been completed over two decades, but the remaining work was completed in under 11 years due to focused oversight. Similarly, the recently inaugurated Navi Mumbai airport became operational well ahead of the original schedule, reflecting the benefits of structured intervention.
PRAGATI has reviewed over 50 meetings covering both infrastructure and flagship schemes. During these meetings, 7,735 implementation issues were identified, with 7,156 resolved. Major challenges included land acquisition, forest and environmental approvals, and right-of-way clearances. Other recurring issues addressed involved construction delays, law and order, power utility approvals, and funding obstacles.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been personally involved in reviewing around 382 complex projects, which raised more than 3,000 issues, most of which have since been resolved. Beyond infrastructure, PRAGATI also monitors 61 government schemes, including PM Awas Yojana, One Nation One Ration Card, PM Jan Aarogya Yojana, PM SVANidhi, and the Swachh Bharat Mission, ensuring better execution and accountability.
The platform strengthens coordination between central ministries, the Centre and state governments, and within state agencies. It also provides a channel to address citizen grievances in sectors like RERA, banking, insurance, and welfare programmes. On average, the platform resolves roughly one issue every working day, demonstrating its efficiency in maintaining project momentum.
When asked about the land acquisition policy, which often causes delays, the Cabinet Secretary clarified that there are no current plans for revisions. He also highlighted that several states are adopting similar mechanisms to tackle bottlenecks and push projects forward.
PRAGATI has therefore become an essential instrument for improving project delivery, ensuring that delays caused by procedural and administrative hurdles are minimized. Its oversight ensures that both infrastructure projects and social welfare schemes progress in a coordinated and timely manner, helping India optimize large-scale investments and improve service delivery to citizens.
