Synopsis

The Ambala Cantonment administration conducted a major enforcement drive earlier this week, demolishing six illegal colonies across Chandpura, Sareri, and Ranwala villages, covering more than 21.5 acres. The action included removal of 27 ongoing constructions and temporary roads, aiming to halt unauthorised development. Led by the duty magistrate cum District Town Planner with police support, officials reiterated warnings against investing in unapproved land and advised buyers to verify legal ownership before transactions. The move is part of ongoing efforts to regulate urban development and ensure compliance with planning norms.

The Ambala Cantonment authorities carried out a comprehensive enforcement operation earlier this week, targeting illegal colonies across multiple villages under its jurisdiction. Six unauthorised settlements spanning about 21.5 acres were demolished, with the operation focusing on areas in Chandpura, Sareri, and Ranwala villages.

In Chandpura, two colonies covering roughly 10.1 acres were dismantled. In Sareri, three settlements occupying around 10.2 acres faced demolition, while a smaller colony of approximately one acre in Ranwala was also removed. The enforcement included clearing temporary kutcha roads laid in these areas and demolishing 27 constructions that were still under development.

The drive was led by duty magistrate cum District Town Planner Rohit Chauhan, assisted by the junior engineer and the SHO (Enforcement), with police personnel ensuring smooth conduct of operations. Officials highlighted that such colonies often attract speculative investments, which can result in legal complications and financial losses for buyers. They urged the public to confirm land titles and approval status before purchasing or investing in properties.

Authorities emphasized that action against unauthorised colonies and illegal construction will continue as part of regular urban planning enforcement. The goal is to prevent further encroachments, maintain planning discipline, and protect residents from the risks associated with unregulated development.
