Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said that several long-pending infrastructure and energy projects in the state are now being completed in a time-bound and effective manner through the IT-based PRAGATI monitoring platform. He highlighted that projects such as the modernisation of the Bhilai Steel Plant and the NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Project have gained renewed momentum due to real-time tracking, inter-agency coordination and continuous reviews under PRAGATI. According to the Chief Minister, the platform reflects a result-oriented governance approach and has strengthened energy security, industrial growth and employment generation in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday said that several crucial infrastructure and energy projects that had remained stalled for decades are now progressing rapidly through the PRAGATI platform, an IT-based system designed for proactive governance and timely implementation.
PRAGATI, which stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, enables real-time monitoring of major government projects and facilitates swift resolution of bottlenecks. Sai said the platform reflects a governance model that is result-oriented, accountable and decisive, and its impact is clearly visible in Chhattisgarh.
He cited the modernisation of the Bhilai Steel Plant as a key example, noting that the project has not only accelerated rail production but has also generated employment for thousands of youths. According to the Chief Minister, the modernisation has strengthened the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat while giving fresh momentum to industrial growth in the state.
Sai also highlighted the completion of the NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Project in Raigarh district, which has a generation capacity of 1,600 MW. He said the project has ensured uninterrupted electricity supply to Chhattisgarh and six other states, reinforcing national energy security and supporting industrial and agricultural activities.
The Chief Minister said the PRAGATI platform has developed a robust mechanism for continuous review, clear goal-setting and rapid implementation, creating a new work culture focused on tangible outcomes. He added that projects worth more than INR 85 lakh crore across sectors such as infrastructure, energy, railways, roads and coal have gained momentum nationwide through PRAGATI over the past decade.
Several key projects from Chhattisgarh are part of this initiative. Sai noted that regular high-level reviews under PRAGATI accelerated work on projects like the Bhilai Steel Plant, approved in 2007, and the Lara power project, approved in 2009.
He expressed confidence that with continued monitoring and accountability through PRAGATI, Chhattisgarh will play a stronger role in achieving the national goal of a developed India by 2047.
