Synopsis

The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) recently sealed five unauthorized buildings in Threke village after developers ignored multiple notices to stop construction. The action, carried out under directives from Punjab's Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and GLADA Chief Sandeep Kumar, was unopposed and marked a strict enforcement of regulations against illegal colonies. Authorities have recommended filing FIRs against the developers. GLADA has warned the public against buying property in unauthorized areas and advised checking approved colonies and sanctioned maps on its official website to avoid unplanned development risks.

The regulatory wing of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) carried out a sealing operation on five unauthorized buildings in Threke village after repeated notices to developers failed to halt construction. The operation, conducted under the supervision of GLADA chief administrator Sandeep Kumar and Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, was completed smoothly without opposition.

Officials confirmed that these buildings lacked statutory approvals and violated sanctioned norms, prompting GLADA to intervene. The authority has also recommended filing FIRs against the developers responsible, reflecting a more stringent approach to enforcing land-use and construction regulations.

GLADA emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against illegal and unplanned development, especially focusing on unauthorized colonies. Authorities have also initiated a drive to take punitive action against individuals exploiting residents by offering plots in unapproved colonies lacking legal sanction.

The administration urged the public not to purchase property, plots, or buildings in unauthorized areas, clarifying that essential services such as water supply, sewerage, and electricity connections will not be provided to such locations. Prospective buyers are advised to consult the official GLADA website for a list of approved and regularized colonies, including sanctioned maps, before making any investments.

This enforcement in Threke village is part of a broader pattern of regulatory actions by Ludhiana authorities to curb unauthorized construction. Past operations have seen similar sealing and demolition drives across the city to maintain planned urban development and protect residents from unregulated growth.
