The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has launched an online system allowing residents to obtain survey certificates for buildings and vacant plots without visiting offices in person. Applicants can register, submit documents, track application status, and download certificates through the official portal, with approvals expected within seven days. The platform also handles urban land ceiling and government land survey applications in coordination with the mandal revenue office. GVMC staff are receiving training to ensure smooth operations, reflecting the corporation's push to digitise services and improve convenience for property owners.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has introduced an online system for issuing survey certificates for buildings and vacant plots across the city. The service allows property owners to apply directly through the GVMC website, track their application status in real time, and download the approved certificate, eliminating the need to visit multiple offices and reducing delays.
Previously, residents had to follow a largely manual process that involved multiple in-person visits to the head office and zonal offices, which was time-consuming and often inconvenient. GVMC Mayor Peela Srinivasa Rao said the new online system is designed to simplify access to property documents for residents and property owners within the municipal limits.
Applicants can register or log in to the official portal, navigate to Citizen Services e-Request Surveyor Certificate, and submit the required details and documents. A unique reference number is generated for each application, allowing applicants to monitor progress and receive updates online.
Once submitted, applications are first verified by the relevant town surveyor, who checks details and supporting documents before forwarding them to the estate officer for final approval. Approved certificates are then made available in the Issued Surveyor Certificate section on the portal, ready for download.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg noted that the new online system is expected to deliver survey certificates within seven days. The service also extends to urban land ceiling and government land surveys, coordinated with the mandal revenue office, making the process faster and more efficient.
To ensure smooth operations, senior officials are providing training to revenue and town planning staff, as well as ward secretariat employees, on handling online applications and assisting residents.
This initiative is part of GVMC's broader effort to digitise civic services, improving accessibility and convenience for residents while reducing administrative workload. Similar digital services across India have shown that online systems can enhance transparency, reduce processing time, and make property-related procedures easier for citizens.
