Ashok Leyland announced earlier this week that it has secured an order from Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings (TNSTU) for nearly two thousand buses. The company, which has already supplied over twenty-one thousand buses to TNSTU, stated that the new order will include a mix of fully built and chassis configurations catering to town, mofussil, and SETC operations. Each bus will be built on the latest AIS 153-compliant chassis platform, adhering to updated Indian safety and performance norms.
Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer, revealed earlier this week that it had received an order from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings for 1,937 buses. This adds to its long-standing association with the state, as the company has already delivered over 21,000 buses to Tamil Nadu's transport bodies over the years.
According to the company's statement, the latest order comprises a diverse range of fully built and chassis configurations designed for various operations, including town, mofussil, and State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) services. Each of the vehicles is built on the company's AIS 153-compliant chassis platform, aligning with the most recent Indian safety and performance standards.
Madhavi Deshmukh, the National Sales Head of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles at Ashok Leyland, remarked that Tamil Nadu has remained a key market for the company. Deshmukh added that the latest order reflected the continued trust and confidence customers had in Ashok Leyland's technology and performance.
During the trading session, the company's shares were up by around 1.29 per cent, valued at INR 137.40 apiece on the BSE.
The latest order further strengthens Ashok Leyland's partnership with Tamil Nadu's transport undertakings and reinforces its position as a key supplier of commercial vehicles in the region. By meeting advanced safety and performance norms through the AIS 153-compliant chassis, the company continues to align with evolving national standards. The positive market reaction underscored investor confidence in Ashok Leyland's operational strength and consistent business growth.
