Synopsis

The Goa government has decided to identify central government schemes that offer 100% central financial assistance to accelerate infrastructure development across key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, transport, and water supply. The state plans to appoint consultants to identify and secure these funds, assisting departments in preparing proposals as per the guidelines of the Government of India. This initiative aims to maintain the pace of infrastructure creation and support the state's vision of becoming the first developed state in India.

The Goa government has initiated a plan to identify central government schemes that provide 100% central financial assistance to support infrastructure development in various sectors. This move is aimed at accelerating the creation of infrastructure in areas such as agriculture and allied industries, welfare, education and skill development, employment, healthcare, transport, ports, roads, and water supply.

To implement this plan, the state government has decided to appoint consultants who will assist in identifying relevant central government schemes that can be availed by various departments. The consultants will work closely with the concerned departments to prepare proposals for central sector or centrally sponsored schemes, ensuring that preference is given to those schemes that offer 100% central financial assistance.

In addition to identifying suitable schemes, the consultants will also assist departments in preparing necessary documents such as pre-feasibility reports, techno-economic feasibility reports, detailed project reports, or any other studies required as per the guidelines of the Government of India. This support will help departments in securing financial assistance under central sector and centrally sponsored schemes.

A senior government official emphasized that apart from tourism and ancillary industries, sectors such as pharmaceuticals and information technology also provide livelihoods to the people in the state. The official further stated that the state government is keen to develop infrastructure and undertake projects that will secure funds under central sector and centrally sponsored schemes. This initiative aligns with the government's vision of undertaking significant development work and accessing finance from various sources, including funding from the Government of India.

The selected panel of consultancy firms will play a crucial role in assisting state departments and government agencies in identifying schemes and projects under which funds from the central government can be availed. This collaborative effort aims to ensure the timely and efficient implementation of infrastructure projects across the state.
