Mumbai's Aarey Milk Colony is witnessing a significant crackdown on illegal structures, led by the CEO's office, resulting in over 150 demolitions. The initiative, marking a major operation against illegal constructions, is set to intensify post-monsoon. Applauded by environmental advocates, the actions aim to safeguard the forest, local biodiversity and wildlife from encroachments. Collaboration with the forest department, dairy department, MCGM, and police is in place to ensure Aarey forest becomes an encroachment-free zone.
A substantial initiative to eradicate illegal constructions in the Aarey Milk Colony has been launched by the office of the Aarey CEO, leading to the dismantling of more than 150 unauthorized structures. The campaign represents one of the most considerable actions ever taken against illicit structures in the region. The CEO's office has indicated an intensification of efforts once the monsoon season concludes.
The CEO's office, under its new leadership, had undertaken action against around 125 illegitimate huts on government property by the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road in Aarey Milk Colony before the monsoon began. Another 40 unlawful huts in different Aarey areas were also demolished.
In June, the crackdown continued, with approximately 70 shops and hawkers running unlicensed operations at Mayur Nagar in the Aarey Milk Colony facing the repercussions. An official from the CEO's office confirmed that they had successfully torn down more than 150 illegal structures across Aarey Milk Colony and would ramp up their activities post monsoons.
This massive operation against unlawful structures in Aarey Milk Colony underscores the serious commitment to environmental preservation. The CEO's office, in collaboration with local NGOs and authorities, continues to focus on restoring Aarey's biodiversity and enhancing coexistence with wildlife. This movement embodies a significant stride towards a sustainable future and sets a precedent for similar initiatives across the country.
