NHAI plans to install QR code-equipped project information signboards along national highways to provide travelers with quick access to essential details and emergency helplines. The boards will display highway numbers, chainage, contacts for the highway patrol, toll managers, resident engineers, and emergency helpline 1033. Positioned near rest areas, toll plazas, truck lay-byes, and highway start/end points, the signboards are designed to improve safety, assist in emergencies, and enhance awareness about national highway projects and facilities. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that it will install project information signboards with quick response (QR) codes along stretches of national highways across the country. These signboards are aimed at providing commuters with easy access to relevant project details and emergency helpline numbers. Advertisement
Each QR code signboard will include information such as the national highway number, highway chainage, and contact numbers for the highway patrol, toll managers, and resident engineers. The boards will also display the emergency helpline number 1033, ensuring that travelers can quickly reach authorities in case of any incident or requirement.
The signboards will be placed strategically near wayside amenities, rest areas, toll plazas, truck lay-byes, and at the start and end points of highways. This placement is intended to maximize their utility, making sure that commuters can access information wherever they stop or travel along the highway.
According to NHAI, the initiative is expected to improve road safety by offering immediate access to essential contacts and information. Commuters will be able to obtain details about the highway project, report emergencies, or contact the right authorities without delays. The authority highlighted that these boards will also help in raising awareness about the national highway network, providing travelers with a better understanding of ongoing projects and available facilities along their route.
By integrating QR technology with signage, NHAI aims to enhance the overall travel experience. The initiative reflects a practical step toward making highways safer and more user-friendly, while also ensuring that travelers have clear and accessible information during their journey.
