Synopsis

The Delhi government has approved over INR 1,000 crore for 431 development projects across 360 villages, marking the first large-scale initiative for rural areas at once. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that villages are central to Delhi's identity and are vital for balanced urban-rural growth. The projects focus on roads, drainage, ponds, parks, community centers, sports fields, and cremation grounds. These will be executed across 30 assembly and four parliamentary constituencies with oversight to ensure transparency and efficient implementation.

The Delhi government has approved 431 rural development projects worth more than INR 1,000 crore, covering around 360 villages. The approval was made during the first meeting of the newly formed Delhi Rural Development Board. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted that villages not only reflect tradition and culture but also play a crucial role in the capital's functioning. She stressed the need to strengthen basic infrastructure and accelerate development in these areas.

Development Minister Kapil Mishra, board chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, and vice-chairman Gajendra Singh Daral attended the meeting. The projects approved include construction and improvement of roads, drainage systems, ponds, community centers, parks, cremation grounds, and sports fields. These initiatives span 30 assembly constituencies and four parliamentary constituencies.

Gupta directed officials to prepare area-specific project lists for better transparency and faster execution. She also suggested assigning Lok Sabha constituencies to board members for more effective monitoring. The government has assured that there will be no shortage of funds and emphasized equal access to basic facilities for both rural and urban residents.

Execution of these projects will involve multiple agencies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, ensuring a coordinated approach. Officials aim to provide improved amenities and elevate the quality of life for rural residents while maintaining close supervision to prevent delays.
