Synopsis

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has asked Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to fast-track the Master Plan 2041, highlighting the need for a clear, long-term plan to address the city's developmental challenges and benefit future generations. The Delhi Development Authority is preparing the plan, which aims to guide urban growth for the coming decades. The Chief Minister also reviewed the draft, stressing concrete solutions, while LG Saxena confirmed focused efforts for timely implementation. Parallelly, the Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan has advanced rural infrastructure projects, improving life in 50 villages.

Delhi Chief Minister Smt Rekha Gupta has called on Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to accelerate the preparation of the Master Plan 2041 to meet the evolving needs of the city. She emphasized that the plan must address current developmental challenges and provide long-term benefits for future generations. The CM expressed that the government is ready to approve any proposals that genuinely serve the interests of the residents.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is currently preparing the master plan, which is expected to guide the city's growth over the next two decades. After taking office earlier this year, Gupta reviewed the draft, which had been in preparation for several years, and directed officials to develop a concrete and actionable plan. She noted that the draft lacked sufficient clarity initially and required strengthening to truly serve public interest.

Lieutenant Governor Saxena confirmed that full attention is being given to the master plan, with efforts to implement it at the earliest. He also highlighted the progress of the Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan (DGA), a rural development initiative launched in 2023. Under this program, a fund of INR 960 crore, previously unspent for years, was transferred to the DDA for project execution. Projects worth INR 760 crore have been completed so far, benefiting 50 villages.

The Chief Minister appreciated the LG's efforts in promoting rural development and emphasized that balanced growth requires attention to both urban and rural areas. She highlighted that developing villages alongside urban regions is vital for overall national progress. The DGA has launched 81 development projects, including renovations of community halls, roads, parks, and multipurpose centers, aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure. The initiative also encourages community participation in decision-making and targets the enhancement of infrastructure and civic amenities.
