NAREDCO Mahi hosted its 4th Convention in New Delhi, themed 'Rise & Build: Women Transforming Real Estate for a Sustainable Tomorrow'. The event focused on women's influence in driving sustainable and inclusive real estate, aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047. The convention also launched NAREDCO NEXTGEN - North for young professionals and honored women achievers, reflecting efforts to foster professionalism, ethics, and global engagement in the sector.
NAREDCO Mahi, the women's wing of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), successfully hosted its 4th Convention at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi. The event, held on July 15, discussed the role of women in shaping India's real estate sector under the theme 'Rise & Build: Women Transforming Real Estate for a Sustainable Tomorrow.'
The convention emphasized women's growing influence in steering India's real estate sector towards sustainability and inclusivity, aligning with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Chief Guest Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Minister of the Delhi Government, highlighted that greater women's participation will boost transparency in real estate and urged concrete policy changes for women's empowerment.
A session titled "Housing in India: Synergizing Policy and Industry for Sustainable Urban Growth" explored how luxury is being redefined in Indian real estate by elements like natural light, ventilation, and spatial quality, rather than just opulent fittings. Panelists, including Ms. D. Thara, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, and Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman, NAREDCO, discussed policy-industry collaboration, affordable housing, and women's leadership. Dr. Hiranandani stressed that empowering women through targeted skilling is key to inclusive growth in real estate, the country's second-largest employment sector. Ms. D. Thara added that urban housing progress is about nurturing communities and ensuring sustainability by protecting natural resources.
Ms. Isha Kalia, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, and Dr. Ananta Singh Raghuvanshi, Chairperson of NAREDCO Mahi, held a dialogue on women's role in urban planning and policy execution, emphasizing inclusive governance. Mr. Hari Babu, President of NAREDCO, also underscored women's role in shaping the industry's inclusive and sustainable future, promoting equal inheritance and property rights for daughters.
A panel on "RERA: Successes, Challenges, and the Road Ahead" featured Shri Anand Kumar (Chairman, Delhi RERA) and Shri Rakesh Kumar Goyal (Chairman, Punjab RERA). They stated that RERA has brought transparency, accountability, and efficiency, reducing complaints and building buyer confidence. Dr. Hiranandani added that RERA restored credibility, making project failures rare and calling for further SWAMIH fund support. Another panel, "Indian Real Estate: Pivoting to a USD 1 Trillion Market," discussed how urbanization, digital transformation, and government reforms are driving demand across various asset classes, emphasizing inclusive and sustainable development in all markets.
Other sessions included "Acceptance and Inclusion: Creating Equitable Workplaces" by regional NAREDCO Mahi leaders, addressing gender integration and highlighting challenges like capital access and workplace safety. "Transition of Foundation: Father-Daughter Duos Redefining Leadership" explored mentorship and succession in family businesses, showing how family dynamics foster women leaders. The convention also launched NAREDCO NEXTGEN - North for young professionals and honored women leaders with awards for their contributions to Mahi's mission.
