Synopsis

IIFL Home Finance Ltd. hosted a Green Certification felicitation ceremony in Bhuj, recognising over 50 homeowners for building self-constructed homes that meet green certification standards under the company's 'Humara Kutumb' initiative. The event aimed to promote sustainable, climate-resilient housing and included site visits to certified homes. Through this flagship programme, the company supports economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) in constructing affordable, energy-efficient homes, while also training local masons and contractors in green construction practices. The initiative is already active across six Indian states.

In Bhuj, IIFL Home Finance Ltd. (IIFL HFL) conducted a Green Certification felicitation ceremony to celebrate more than 50 local homeowners whose self-constructed residences had received green certification. The event formed part of IIFL's ongoing 'Humara Kutumb' initiative, which promotes sustainable and climate-resilient housing, particularly among underserved communities. The celebration brought together homeowners, local contractors, developers, and prospective buyers from Bhuj and surrounding areas to highlight the environmental and economic benefits of green homes.

Attendees toured several certified houses, gaining insight into how minor design choices can lead to energy-efficient and environmentally conscious dwellings. These homes, constructed using sustainable materials, demonstrated cost savings in energy and water usage without compromising affordability or comfort.

Dr. Lokesh Goyal, Head of Collateral Risk at IIFL Home Finance, remarked during the event that the company remained committed to ensuring sustainable living was accessible to all. He stated that the green practices and the Humara Kutumb initiative were allowing families to build not just affordable homes but future-ready ones. He added that witnessing Bhuj residents taking proactive steps towards sustainability was deeply motivating and aligned with IIFL's broader goals for India.

'Humara Kutumb' is IIFL's core social initiative aimed at enabling sustainable housing for the economically weaker section (EWS) and low-income group (LIG) segments. Through this platform, IIFL provides assistance to homeowners in obtaining green certifications such as EDGE HPC (Home Prescriptive Certification), which is internationally recognised. These certified homes use fewer natural resources, reduce energy consumption, and enhance indoor comfort.

Beyond assisting with certifications, the programme is also focused on training local masons and contractors in eco-conscious construction methods, thereby nurturing a skilled workforce capable of advancing green housing nationwide.

The initiative has a presence in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, and has already benefitted hundreds of families. It has enabled them to cut down on utility costs while simultaneously reducing their environmental footprint and improving living standards.

The Bhuj ceremony was not merely an occasion of recognition; it underscored a growing reality where sustainable housing is already being embraced by communities with the right guidance and collaborative effort. Through its work under Humara Kutumb, IIFL Home Finance continues to empower Indian families to make environmentally sound housing decisions that enhance their well-being.
