The project, which involves an investment of INR 450 crore, will see the development of greenfield facilities in Vapi and Dahej. The units will focus on recycling PET bottles into high-performance industrial packaging, utilising a closed-loop system encompassing bottle collection, washing, tape extrusion, weaving, and bag fabrication. The initiative is set to operate on renewable energy, aiming to recycle over 10 million PET bottles daily, thereby promoting circularity and reducing the carbon footprint.

Chemco Group, a plastic packaging enterprise, has revealed plans to invest INR 450 crore in establishing two greenfield manufacturing facilities in Gujarat through a joint venture with Kandoi Group of Industries. The two units, located in Vapi and Dahej, will focus on a fully-integrated, closed-loop recycling system for PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles. The plants will encompass processes ranging from PET bottle collection and washing to tape extrusion, weaving, and bag fabrication, ensuring consistent quality and traceability while minimising environmental impact.

Chemco Group stated that by converting everyday PET waste into industrial packaging, they aim to create value for businesses, communities, and the environment. The facilities are designed to recycle over 10 million PET bottles daily, approximately 3.6 billion annually, and will operate solely on renewable energy, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional polypropylene and polyethylene packaging solutions.

Niranjan Agarwal, Managing Director of Kandoi Group of Industries, expressed that the partnership unites two industry leaders with substantial technical expertise and a shared commitment to circularity, positioning the venture as a major step forward in sustainable packaging solutions.

By investing in cutting-edge, greenfield facilities in Gujarat, the companies aim to not only reduce environmental impact but also set a benchmark for circularity in industrial packaging. The initiative aligns with broader industry trends towards sustainable development and renewable energy integration, positioning the project as a key player in the evolving landscape of plastic recycling and eco-friendly manufacturing.
