The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a comprehensive blueprint to establish 12 state-of-the-art e-way hubs along the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways, as outlined in a recent official statement. The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has proposed an investment of INR 425.43 crore, with eight hubs planned along the Purvanchal Expressway and four on the Bundelkhand Expressway. These e-way hubs will feature world-class passenger amenities, including air-conditioned facilities, sensor-based sanitaryware, and accessible infrastructure for people with disabilities. Additionally, the centres will incorporate airport-grade comforts, such as nursing rooms, kid-friendly washrooms, and designated breastfeeding areas.
The Uttar Pradesh government has laid out a strategic plan to develop 12 modern e-way hubs along the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways, aiming to elevate the commuter experience through advanced infrastructure. According to a recent announcement, the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has prepared a detailed master plan to ensure seamless, high-quality services across the two expressways.
Of the 12 proposed hubs, eight will be established along the Purvanchal Expressway, with a planned investment of INR 299.18 crore. Four major hubs will receive substantial funding, including INR 40.72 crore for the Sultanpur node and INR 30.82 crore for the Banda hub. Meanwhile, the Bundelkhand Expressway is set to see an investment of INR 126.25 crore, bringing the total financial outlay for both expressways to INR 425.43 crore.
The e-way hubs are poised to become the largest passenger service centres on the expressways, equipped with airport-grade amenities to provide a premium travel experience. The facilities will be fully air-conditioned, incorporating advanced cooling systems for high-traffic areas to ensure optimal comfort. Separate restroom blocks for men and women will feature modern sanitaryware, including sensor-based faucets, soap dispensers, and sanitary napkin vending machines.
Additionally, the hubs will provide specialised facilities for nursing mothers, child-friendly washrooms, and dedicated breastfeeding areas. To cater to the needs of differently-abled passengers, the infrastructure will include accessible amenities such as holding bars, anti-skid flooring, and wheelchairs.
By incorporating airport-grade amenities and focusing on inclusive infrastructure, the proposed hubs aim to transform the expressways into premium transit corridors. The investment of INR 425.43 crore reflects the state's commitment to creating world-class travel infrastructure, aligning with broader initiatives to boost tourism, connectivity, and commercial opportunities. As these hubs take shape, they are poised to set new benchmarks in passenger service standards across Indian expressways.
